To Mandy, activism needs to be attended at a local level. Though she may not be known by my generation on a national level, she has certainly made a name for herself in the south. I knew upon receiving her response that more people, especially those in my generation, needed to know who this LGBTQ+ advocate was. It was clear that her activism and success has not gone to her head- she’s just as selfless and dedicated since 1968 when she first joined the War Resisters League and the 1968 Poor People’s Campaign.
